Rombach Gas Regulator Maintenance

Employer: Khorasan Razavi Gas Company

Virtual Reality System for Rombach Gas Regulator Maintenance

This project aims to train and enhance the skills of employees at the National Iranian Gas Company in performing maintenance on the Rombach regulator using virtual reality (VR) technology. The Rombach regulator, utilized in pressure reduction stations, may experience issues that take it out of operation due to various factors. Such failures can significantly impact gas consumption and resource management, and timely repair and restoration of these regulators play an essential role in optimizing gas usage. By entering the software, users can select specific operations, confront simulated risks and conditions, and demonstrate appropriate reactions. An additional benefit of this project is the inclusion of a voice and text assistant that users can activate or deactivate at any time to receive guidance.

Simulated Scenarios and Maintenance Operations for Rombach Gas Regulator:

  • Inspection and replacement of the plug spring, orifice throat, and plug shaft in the feeder and pilot
  • Examination of the piston dust cover, blockage of the shaft opening, and seat failure
  • Replacement of diaphragm and pin in the feeder and pilot
  • Inspection of the speed limiting valve in the pilot
  • Training for complete overhaul of the Rombach regulator
  • Inspection and replacement of the orifice
