
Equipping the Railways with Virtual Reality–Based Training Systems by Manshour Fanavari Arian
VR Training Infrastructure for National Railways Becomes Operational
In line with the development of modern training methods and the use of emerging technologies in the rail industry, a Virtual Reality (VR) training course for the Islamic Republic of Iran Railways was held from June 15 to June 17, 2026, in cooperation with the Khorasan Railway Training Center and the knowledge-based company Aria Technology Charter at the Khorasan Railway Training Center. During this event, selected managers and experts from different railway regions across the country participated and became familiar with the latest VR-based training solutions in the rail industry
During the course, Aria Technology Charter, as the designer and developer of VR-based training systems for the Islamic Republic of Iran Railways, presented its achievements in immersive training and shared its experience in implementing this technology within the national railway network. The company introduced three specialized VR training systems developed for this organization

With the establishment and operational deployment of VR training centers of the Islamic Republic of Iran Railways in a large number of provinces across the country, managers and experts from regions including Tehran, Isfahan, Azerbaijan, Yazd, Zagros, Hormozgan, North, Lorestan, Khorasan, and others took part in the program. They became familiar with the educational objectives and operational functions of these systems and experienced training, safety, and crisis management scenarios in a virtual environment. They also explored the use of this technology in improving safety, enhancing employee skills, and reducing operational errors
A significant part of the event was dedicated to sharing experiences from different railway regions regarding the use of modern training technologies. Managers and experts discussed operational experiences, reviewed existing challenges in specialized training, and exchanged views on expanding the use of virtual reality in the country’s rail industry
At the end of the course, the effectiveness of VR systems in specialized training, improving safety levels, and enhancing the quality of employee learning was emphasized and appreciated by the participants. They considered the use of virtual reality technology an important step toward the smart transformation of railway training and the development of human capital in this industry
